THE VENUE
The Lima Memorial Foundation is known for transforming spaces and curating unique experiences for guests who attend the annual Journey event. We take immense pride in showcasing Journey in partnership with some of the region’s hidden gems; our past transformations include a museum parking lot turned extra-terrestrial galaxy, a 54,000-square-foot warehouse morphed into Lima’s largest art gallery, an underdeveloped mall section evolved into an extravagant red-carpet affair and a corrugated packaging plant repackaged into a stylish evening venue. Each year, we delight in creating captivating environments from the vibrant hidden gems in our region.
Allen County Fairgrounds
This year, we are excited to connect with Lima Memorial’s roots by partnering with the Allen County Fairgrounds as our host for A Journey in Time. Lima Memorial has longstanding ties to the Allen County Fair, with the current site of the hospital sitting on what once was the home of the Allen County Driving Park & Fairgrounds. Now located at 2750 Harding Highway, the Allen County Fair serves to bond local communities together, as no other event draws from as many areas of the county or involves the cooperation of so many different people.
ALLEN COUNTY FAIR HISTORY
The Allen County Fair boasts a long tradition in our community, with the first fair held back in October 1851. Today, the Allen County Fair is one of Ohio’s top fairs, with attendance of more than 200,000 visitors annually.
A beloved place founded by the community, the Allen County Fair’s roots parallel those of Lima Memorial Health System, a hospital built by the community for the community. Learn more about the Allen County Fairgrounds by visiting https://allencofair.com/about-the-fairgrounds/.
